Clinical Faculty in Industrial Hygiene (Assistant or Associate Professor; nontenure track)
The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health (SPH) Division of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (EOHS) announces the search for a clinical non-tenure track faculty member at the assistant or associate professor level. This new non-tenure track position reflects our commitment to developing a skilled public health workforce and a new generation of environmental and occupational health scientists. Applicants should have expertise in industrial hygiene, exposure assessment, and control sciences, with experience in evaluation and management of exposure control measures and interventions to improve workplace safety and health. Expertise in creating engaging and interactive learning environments is desired, and experience teaching via online learning platforms is preferred. 

Candidates must have:
• A doctoral degree (or equivalent) in Industrial Hygiene, Exposure Science, Safety Science and/or Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or eligibility to sit for CIH exam
• Experience teaching or training in an academic environment

The EOHS division has a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and impactful portfolio of research and services that reflect our values of community engagement and equity in environmental and occupational health. Many opportunities exist at UIC for research collaboration with faculty in the fields of occupational safety, occupational epidemiology, occupational medicine, community health, environmental health, and health policy. The EOHS division serves about 80 students in MPH, MS and PhD programs currently with eight tenure-system faculty, and twice that number of research and clinical faculty. Within the EOHS division, the NIOSH-funded Illinois Education and Research Center (ERC) supports training, research, outreach and continuing education in a variety of occupational health disciplines; the NIOSH-funded Center for Healthy Work, which is
using innovative engaged research methods to examine precarious work and its impacts on health; and the Great Lakes Center for Farmworker Health and Wellbeing which conducts research to improve working conditions, fair and equitable wages, social protections, and access to healthcare for farmworkers.

Salary: Salary Range: $100,000 to $140,000. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Requirements The candidate will have primary responsibilities for teaching four graduate courses in the Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety programs each year as needed by the department and in accordance with the candidate’s area of expertise. This position is a 12-month salaried appointment with anticipated up to 75%-100% teaching/advising and up to 25% administrative/service responsibilities depending on the total number of classes being taught and other administrative roles needed to advance the UIC Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety training programs. A 12-month 100% clinical faculty member is expected to teach six classes (including summer) with each course buy-out at 15% external effort. If the individual has specific research interests, there is potential for 60% teaching/advising (4 courses), 20% administration/service, and 20% research. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
